The inherent dignity of every individual is reflected through his or her ability to earn a living; the primary responsibility of the government in which he or she resides is to provide the opportunity for such.

To this end...

The Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority exists

  1. to provide viable and ample means of economic support for the Liberian people, for without means to earn a living, there is no dignity; without dignity, there is no peace;
  2. to improve the quality of life for the Liberian people through the improvement of infrastructure, for the dignity of the people can only be nourished if their needs are nourished as well;
  3. to educate the next generation of Liberians to provide for their future, for only through education can we overcome all obstacles;
  4. and in doing so, to preserve democracy and freedom within Liberia.

The Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority strives to promote economic growth and development within Liberia through

  1. the encouragement of international investment in Liberia;
  2. the encouragement of industrial and economic development by affluent Liberians and ex-patriots;
  3. and collaboration with the United Nations in order to secure monies for economic improvement.

History

The Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority (LIFZA) was created in 1976 to promote industrial and corporate growth within the country of Liberia. Despite promising prospects, the organization was neglected both financially and administratively. With successive changes of government during the 1990s, LIFZA all but disappeared. In 2003, a transitional government was established with the United Nations' guidance, which faced a formidable task despite the optimism of the Liberian people.

The Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority (LIFZA) was created to operate an industrial "free-zone" designed to provide incentives for corporations to establish themselves in Liberia while promoting economic growth within the country and rebuilding infrastructure.

Recognizing the importance of industry to bring jobs into the country, the transitional  government will create plans to make the Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority viable.
