History The Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority (LIFZA) was created in 1976 to promote industrial and corporate growth within the country of Liberia. Despite promising prospects, the organization was neglected both financially and administratively. With successive changes of government during the 1990s, LIFZA all but disappeared. In 2003, a transitional government was established with the United Nations' guidance, which faced a formidable task despite the optimism of the Liberian people.
Recognizing the importance of industry to bring jobs into the country, the transitional government will create plans to make the Liberian Industrial Free Zone Authority viable. |
